Predictions for 2012
Bat for Lashes' record with Beck to finally see the light of day and people suddenly remember that Sea Change was an incredible album.
Radiohead to do a big stadium gig around the time that Glastonbury usually happens (year off, innit?)
Stone Roses gigs a massive anti-climax.
Olympics blamed for poor festival ticket sales.
Spotify to continue to be demonized and generally moaned about for not paying artists enough money, and yet still no-one will bring up that no-one cared about not getting paid from MySpace or Soundcloud (which artists and labels pay a premium to use).
Youtube get forced to include prominent links to buy vinyl and merch and tickets.
The National to tease us that they will have a new record but only release an EP and then sneak the record out at the very start of 2013.
Burial to release album without telling anyone. Maybe under a different name. Maybe reveals he's actually Holy Other, Clams Casino, James Ferraro and all those other acts. Rumours persist that Burial is actually Aphex Twin.
Avalanches and The Wrens to not release anything.
People like me to continue making up nonsense genres like sigh-fi, mnml-trace and cold-rave (most of which get mentioned in my little guide to 2012 which is in the new year's day edition of the sunday times)
