I'm just reading the Pitchfork Top Fifty Metal list and I'm struck by how many of the albums are released by lone people recording all of the instruments themselves.

I've no problem with a recording artist (singular) in electronic music, but one man bands make me a bit suspicious. Why couldn't they just form a proper band?

Am I just being paranoid? I know that's what you're all thinking.
