Aidan Moffat & Bill Wells last night
That was good, weren't it?
I had a lengthy chat with my mate on the way home waxing lyrical about how Aidan's pretty much the outstanding lyricist of my generation.
I can't think of anyone though who is as funny, insightful, on the button and succinct as he is. From chronicling youthful drunken nights out with girl to documenting supermarket trips and funerals, you could pretty much use his lyrics and write the average person's life story.
I think this current record is the best thing he's done since MATHAP-era Strap, down in no small part to Wells' beautiful music. It's a perfect marriage really, and I hope it gives us another record or two until Middleton joins and they form a supergroup which takes over the world's airwaves.
Anyhow, great show. I nearly cried during The Copper Top. And the new one about Halloween ministerial outfits was cracking.
