Features you would add to iTunes (or your preferred digital music library)
I'm a bit of a statistics and data geek when it comes to... well, most things really, but music in particular (being an enthusiast like the rest of you). As such, I'd like it if Apple took the time to improve iTunes by adding some features for inputting/displaying data. I think the following would be pretty cool:
- Adding a 'Record Label' field to song info. The reason being that with many record labels (like Tri Angle, Captured Tracks, Not Not Fun, In The Red) specialising in a 'sound'/micro-genre or otherwise releasing music by like-minded artists, it'd make sense for the purposes of sorting your music/creating playlists, etc.
- Adding a City/Region/Location feature that allows you to include data on where artists are/were based. Of course, this would be harder to implement because you can't tag artists, just songs, on iTunes, and it'd wouldn't make as much sense, for example, to tag a song by The Beatles with 'Liverpool' as it would to tag the artists themselves. But the way I picture it, you could have a world map style display with 'nodes' corresponding to cities/towns on the map that you can click on to bring up all the music by artists that are/were based there.
- Lastly, one I think most people would like to see: a most played artist and album feature.
Yeah, like I said, I'm a geek. But if you share my nerdy passion then I'd like to hear what features you would like to see on iTunes/your preferred digital music library...
