Let's Wrestle/Prize Pets/Human Hair/Weird Menace - SUNDAY, BRIGHTON, SUMMER PARTY
Sex Is Disgusting #33 is a super special summer party at The Prince Albert
Let's Wrestle (Merge Records, London)
Human Hair (Sex Is Disgusting, Nottingham - RECORD RELEASE SHOW)
Prize Pets (Sex Is Disgusting/Palmist, Nottingham)
Weird Menace (MYSTERY)
Let's Wrestle - Let's Wrestle formed in 2005 and since then have been turning self-deprecation and lethargy into pop-rock songs that fans of Archers Of Loaf, Smoking Popes and Jawbreaker will get down to. Laconic wit and influences as disparate as Swell Maps and The Beatles lend a uniquely British edge to their work which also takes clear influence from 90's U.S slacker rock. We're super excited to host the Brighton leg of their tour in support of their new LP 'Nursing Home', produced by renowned culinary blogger Steve Albini! Pick it up at the show and feed them some great vibes, no better time to make the most of this dreary summer!
Human Hair - II. The return. This will be Human Hair's first show with their new line-up (featuring members of Lovvers, Dignan Porch and Throats) & a release show for their new record 'II' on Sex Is Disgusting Records; anticipation is high here, not least because of their track record for absolutely destroying Brighton on every visit. 'II' is, in the loosest sense, a concept record; focussing on the actions of deities in modern times. "Mock-heroics for our times where the four horsemen convene on bicycles, vegetarian angels are moaning about burgers and Saint Peter is a molester of beautiful young women." Fans of The Bad Seeds, The Gun Club and Clockcleaner will surely approve, get buck wild.
Prize Pets - They're coming for you, with new weird headdress. Prize Pets play weird punk rock with a playfulness offset by roaring feedback & overdriven bass riffs. Their record on Sex Is Disgusting remains a favourite in our canon and we're stoked to have them back after seeing them play The Great Escape and single-handedly render 95% of the festival redundant. Fans of Eddy Current Suppression Ring, The Embarrassment and The Birthday Party take heed, raging awaits. New 12" on Palmist Records very soon! The band will be on hiatus soon & this will be their last Brighton show for some time to come so make sure you don't sleep on it.
Weird Menace - FIRST SHOW - Very little can be said of Weird Menace at this point in time as they have no Internet presence, have not played a show yet & have no recorded material. However, distant rumblings of practice recordings and word of mouth allude to dissonant rock from three ladies in love with Sonic Youth (including one member of La La Vasquez). Whatever the reality is we're super excited to find out and really glad to have them opening. Get down early and you can say you saw their first show when they appear on Jools Holland's Hootenany!!!
£5 & 50 pence booking fee in advance from Resident, each ticket entitles you to a free limited CDR compilation & screenprinted poster. £5.50 on the door! Pick up your tickets in advance for the free gifts!

This show will be finished in plenty of time for the last train to LDN.
