Biogs:
Pinch
Knocking his bass about since before 2005, Rob Ellis has been one of the more singular voices in the UK Bass scene for the last six years. Many may know key tracks like Qawwali or Punisher as keystone tracks for dubstep whilst his Tectonic Records is a true pillar of progression in stripped back, scathing bass. More recently his forays into hybrid techno / half step with ‘Croydon House’ has been a stark signifier that the man who helped found dubstep has already moved on. Come and hear where he’s off to next.
Warrior One
Skanking, seething, ska’d up, party shit is what Warrior One is all about. Flipping Kingston sounds up and landing them UK style sees anthems like ‘Bad Like Jimmy Cliff’ nestle in our own sets with cheeky aplomb. His ragga-shuffle is perfect for our heads and feet so join us in his Jah!
Sound of Rum
A truly unique proposition, this rap-folk-narrative-outfit speaks only the truth from the streets we all walk. Kate Tempest obliges her surname finely with withering, joyous, honest and plain engaging observations rattled out at a thousand miles an hour. Only Britain could produce such a proposition.
Young Montana?
Heaving the wonk and sizzle of the global neighbourhood of beat makers inhabited by Dabrye, Flying Lotus, Paul White, Bullion, Kelpe, and Harmonic 313 but making them his own back yard – this youngster is the freshest music mind to come out of Coventry since Jerry Dammers. That sounds like over statement … come judge for your merry self.
Foe
Emergent, angry, stylish. Foe has rightly picked out her own path through the musical jungle and sometimes it sees her swing with grooves, stalk with punk and smash with noise. Another irresistible character to kick off your weekend.
