Old Ocean, Great Celibate (A Maldoror Reading)
"Answer me, ocean, do you want to be my brother?" - Comte de Lautréamont, Les Chants de Maldoror
“Two strange performers emerge…almost unrecognizable as creatures of this earth. Painted almost entirely a deep shade of navy blue each has a golden streak running from mouth to waist and a golden shell stuck in the centre of their masked forehead. The masks, which match the rich navy colour of the blue flesh have the mouth cut away and give their eyes an eerie, black depth.” – Ruari Floyd on a performance of Old Ocean, Great Celibate (A Maldoror Reading) in 2008.
This intensely visceral performance consists of a bilious reading of a famous passage from the Comte de Lautréamont’s Les Chants de Maldoror, set to a grinding, building, semi-improvised soundscape on a variety of electric, acoustic and homemade instruments.

"Vultures started as a discussion that led to a noise making venture which has taken on it's own life and is carrying us with it. The musicians involved come from industrial, jazz, improv, rock, classical, and various goth style backgrounds."
"Marrying elements of doom-drone, extended techniques - in percussion, guitar and prepared-zither, cracked electronics, and esoteric light-reactive software; creating an unholy new sound for lovers of the avant-garde."
