Hmmm...listening to this for the first time and it bears more than a faint resemblance to the kind of music issued on the old Mille Plateaux label under the genre name of click hop - particularly the Electric Ladyland comp from 2002. Not that that's a bad thing, but it seems to be an influence that reviewers have missed.
