Sean McCann - The Capital [Aguirre], fao fans of Emeralds, OPN etc.
I posted about this briefly in the Ferware thread, but it's too good to linger at the bottom of that.
I have a couple of this guy's previous releases which are all great and really add something new and pretty amazing to the standard synth music that is pretty in vogue at the mo. I know mugx3 is a fan...anyone else have any of his stuff? Favourites?
For me, this is the best thing of his I've heard so far. Orchestration and vague choral vocals mix w/ long sublime drone sections, pulsing synth work outs and haunted falling-apart violin sections, reminscient perhaps of The Caretaker or someone. maybe w/ some chopped n' screwed elements too. idk, i'm not boomkat but I do know this record is pretty great.
(If you buy it now, it also comes w/ a free cassette which I have not listened to yet.)
(Swoon in particular reminds of Niggas with Guitars - Ethnic Frenzy on Digitalis, which is another of my fav. records of the year so far. Check it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q5s8hOYP3c)
