Oya and Way Out West (trying to book a festival holiday-centric)
Well...Anybody ever been? To one or the other or both? I'm finishing up my time spent in Europe here soon and need to book a festival somewhere I've never been as I'm not visiting the same city twice in a 2 year span if I can help it, why I'm not going to Primavera :sigh: and ATP looks brill but not such a sightseeing/festival combo opportunity.
Leaning towards Way Out West for being all green and junk and apparently it's in a real urban setting with gigs around the city late at night even? Though the Oya venue doesn't look that bad. Forget about Roskilde. Looks well fun but seems to be in the middle of nowhere.
I need a festival this summer. I'm also looking at Field Day but by then I'll already have been all around London. Kinda want to lean more toward Oya rather than Way Out West b/c by then I'll have been to Sweden. Stockholm but not Gothenburg. Wanted to visit both but a train ride to Gothenburg from Stockholm apparently cost more than my flight from Stockholm to Rome. Still looking into Off! in Katowice, Poland.
Anyway, enough about me.
Way Out West has Kanye West, Fleet Foxes, Pulp, Twin Shadow, Warpaint (feeling the Twin Shadow/Warpaint combo on all these summer festivals, personally), James Blake, Janelle Monae, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, Explosions in the Sky, Wiz Khalifa, Destroyer and more.
Oya has all of those along with Yuck, Lykke Li, Kvelertak, 120 Days (remember, them? I do), Jamie xx, Matthew Dear, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and more.
