I was listening to this again the other day and remembered how mind-blowing and bizarre I found this album when I first heard it (1998 or whenever it was.) I still love it but can’t believe I ever found it so weird. Was I just being young(er) and naïve? Or was it actually quite out-there in the mid 90s but a decade of mediocre vocodered chill-out music has dampened its effect?

Oh, and Le soleil est près de moi is still one of the most drop-dead gorgeous songs ever.
