Why does DiS not cover ANY music that isn't anglo-american?
For a start there is no European stuff. Think I saw an article about Phoenix once. That's it I think. No articles about European music. I mean its not as easy to get involved in but you'd think they'd make a bit of an effort.
Further than that I don't think i've ever seen an article about anything within the anglo-american defined "world music" genre. This can only lead me to believe, my good friends of the music board, that the people who run drowned in sound, that is Sean Adams, at best has contempt for ethnic minorities and at worst a burning hatred for non-whites. Nobody seemed to care about the one article that was on here about staff benda bilili and they were like the last years token "world music" band.
Nothing that could be described as "experimental" either. It basically just covers the "guitar bands singing in english about relationships" end of the spectrum, going as far as Dirty Projectors into the "interesting music" side with the occasional article about dubstep.
In breif, why is everybody at drowned in sound a racist? Is it because they think that non-occidental music traditions are inferior? Is it that, despite asserting the contrary, everybody at drowned in sound is a boring old rockist?
well the answer is yes. At least to the second question.
What are your thoughts?
