I read a lot of the best of 2011 threads but find I'm left with loads of recommendations but am not sure what to listen to. What I tend to find with a lot of bands on these lists (and bands in general) is either:

a) they tend to have a particular sound or style but not actually the songs to back it up

or

b) they tend to be a bit one-dimensional and once you've heard one song you can predict roughly how the rest of the back catalouge's gonna go.

or

c) they've got the music in place but lyrically nothing new or interesting or insightful to say or don't make any kind of emotional connection with the listener (or with me at least)...

or

d) they're basically a version of an existing band that already exist.

So basically, of all the new bands being tipped at the moment, who actually has an original voice and is genuinely going to blow me away at first listen?
