Busted
I wrote a (probably too long, in hindsight) essay a few years ago about how Busted were the most significant band in Britain of the decade. This was in relation to how everyone who was aged 8-14 in 2002 when the first started were then responsible as they grew older for the popularity of My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy and the Blue Banana-slightly rubbish (Daily Mail version of...) Emo trend of 2006 onwards.
Although most of that shit has died down, I'm still in awe of whoever or whatever was behind Busted. The first album still stands up. I wouldn't have counted on that.
