Midlake et al at the Roundhouse
I can't find a thread full of love for this so I will start one. What a great night. It was really good to see Jason Lytle again, first time since I saw Grandaddy at the Astoria (RIP x 2) and I was the happiest man there when, after um'ing and ah'ing about what song to play last, he did Levitz - my fave Grandaddy track.
Still not 100% "with" John Grant although he had a great presence live. Lyrics still grate.
And Midlake were superb, really amazing. Live they confirmed my perhaps unpopular view that The Courage of Others is better than Van Occupanther (and Queen of Denmark). Loved it. And some Grandaddy encore action was very well received, good to see the man so obviously delighted to be there.
That's all from me.
