Sunday Night Videos
Really the only night we can watch videos in the states. At least 4 full time stations which play music vid's 24/7 and only 2 hours a week that're semi-worthwhile. Hmm.
So my girlfriend wants to watch Desperate Housewives reruns, but I'm a bastard. I'd rather see of montreal on mtv2. I'm not even that crazy about the Athens Georgia band (who by inference claim to be from elsewhere.)
Let's get to it.
If I wasn't so absolutely thrilled with the music today, I'd say VH1's best of Alternative set kicks mtv2's subterraneans and the fuse's ass every week.
Here're some that I remember:
1. Jesus and Mary Chain - Blues From a Gun. Great song, great video. Nuff said.
2. Ride - Vapour Trail. I'm still hung up on shoegazers, sorry.
3. BRMC - Ain't No Easy Way. I love chicks that look like Edie Sedgwick.
4. Sons and Daughters - Dance Me In. See above.
5. Coldplay - Yellow. Reminding us why they're ten times better than Maroon 5.
6. Liz Phair - Never Said. Here's the gal who helped emanicipate cha, ms Jober!
7. Sonic Youth - Kool Thing. SY at the top of their game.
8. Cure - Fascination Street. Not only one of the eighties best bands.
9. Gorillaz - Dare. If I just had the talent Damon has in his pinkie, I'd be...erm, somewhere else!
10. Pixies - Head On. You'd think they'd one-up JAMC wouldn't cha? Nope.
11. Bright Eyes - First Day. Not a great video is it?
12. Eels - Trouble with Dreams. Meh.
13. Death Cab for Cutie. whatever the single is from Plans. Meh.
14. Catherine Wheel - Chrome. Great song; notsa great video.
15. Coldplay - Fix You. Reminding us why we can write Coldplay and Maroon 5 in the same sentence and not feel guilty.
16. Killing Joke - I dunna remember. Wasn't that good.
17. Iggy Pop - Cry For Love. I love Ig, but this song is shit, and the video is shite too.
