Jo Mango
Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jo Mango has brought her unique collection of instruments and sounds to collaborations with luminaries such as Vashti Bunyan, David Byrne and Devendra Banhart in venues from the Carnegie Hall in New York to a greenhouse in Glasgow. She has co-written beautiful songs and collaborated on tours and performances with William Tyler (aka Paper Hats), Vetiver, Adem, Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake, Idlewild’s Roddy Woomble and Richmond Fontaine to name but a few. Jo is also an integral member of the beautiful and legendary Vashti Bunyan's band.
Jo's music combines an unusual mix of talented multi-instrumentalism, haunting childlike vocals, intricate lyricism and a penchant for mashing unique collections of accompanying sounds – from African thumb pianos to electronic autoharps mixed with traditional acoustic guitar and harmonium. Several years ago, Jo launched her solo-performing career and her first single, 'My Lung', was BBC Radio 2's Single of the Week on the Radcliffe and Maconie show. Since then she has been busy touring with Vashti Bunyan, filling her ears with wonderful new sounds and writing beautiful new material, which is due for release this year. Her latest single release and her forthcoming album are produced and recorded by Adem Ilhan and are widely anticipated.
