Why are these such a rarity?

Ok this is a mild JAG(ielka) as my mate is starting one at the Hobby Horse on Kingsland Road this Saturday, but aside for a couple, London has a dearth really doesn't it? When every other club is playing Indie/Dubstep every weekend it had always seemed odd that there's hardly anywhere to go and listen to Hip Hop.
