If you *do* like blues, he's arguably the most important embodiment of the genre since Hend'y. Kids who have otherwise only been in to Bieber clap after his solos, he's a proficient enough player to have earned the respect of the likes of Jordan and Palladino, and he's a good enough songwriter to top charts consistently.

I put it to you that John Mayer is one of the best pop stars out there today, and that he'll eventually hit Legend status.
