new Cee-Lo single/album
you can hear it at the wonderful Soul-Sides
I'd absolutely love it if Cee-Lo went back to making raps like on the first two Goodie Mob LPs but I can forgive him if he makes songs like this.
As I've gotten older I've gained so much appreciation for Southern hiphop and the innovations and risks taken by the South's best artists - people like Cee-Lo keep soul music alive and do more for black music's heritage than East Coast hiphop's traditional preoccupation with sampling which, as great as it can be, can also be very limiting.
It's still a damn shame that so many of the South's greatest talents have died young as I'd love to see what the likes of DJ Screw and Pimp C would be making today, but I'm really looking forward to this Cee-Lo record now.
