Hope you don't mind the cheeky blog link here, had an artist say:

"[You should write about] Bands letting commerce rule their art. You should never be thinking of how you’re going to be selling something as it’s being made”

An argument I initially agreed with until I thought about the amount of pop classics that were written to be 'hits' and therefore I reckon I've swayed since.
