Penguins Kill Polar Bears (Alt post rock from Scotland)
So, this is a band I have recently started to manage...
Penguins Kill Polar Bears
Formed in the winter of 2008 Penguins Kill Polar Bears ply their hope-drenched post-rock to anyone that cares to listen. The band were born from a mutual love of good music including bands such as Aereogramme, Silverchair, Appleseed Cast and The Smashing Pumpkins, and have themselves grown into quite the beast.
Their sound is that of a band as unafraid of pop as they are grunge and heavy rock – catchy but completely uncompromising in their crescendos and massive drum beats. With loud and soft dynamics and live performances which are honest and powerful with equal measures of restraint and excess. Penguins Kill Polar Bears performance will never translate to words without losing some of it's energy and vibrance.
Notable gigs playing with such bands as, Nine Black Alps, And So I Watch You From Afar, Tubelord, and Anathallo have been the springboard to a rapidly growing fan base from Scotland and beyond. With various sold out headline gigs themselves, Penguins Kill Polar Bears are, in their own right, an act not to be missed.
The band are set to release their first EP on June 19th, with a launch party at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh, teamed up an EP launch tour across Scotland. Future plans include several festival appearances, Scottish highlands tour, UK tour, and writing of debut album release.
With the release of their debut EP, an album release in the pipeline and a work ethic of epic proportions with a live show to match, these are exciting times for Penguins Kill Polar Bears.
