- the band split up due to Malkmus feeling the rest of the musicians were a bit average
- they've got back together due to the drummer's gambling problems and colossal debts
- the drummer, at least, is seemingly in it for the money. Which would be a great name for a Supergrass reunion tour next decade.

Weird... maybe the label weren't happy?
