As usual, the new Caribou record is not doing it for me. I've never been able to make it through Andorra without nearly nodding off and while The Milk Of Human Kindness is competent krautrock pastiche I never really feel the need to listen to it. As far as Swim is concerned...it's better than Andorra but not by much and when I'm done listening to it I don't remember anything that makes me want to return to it. I love the Junior Boys and Hot Chip is pretty good, but Snaith doesn't seem to understand that more of the same formula isn't very compelling. Just feels empty to me. There's some weird noises here and there and things that catch my ear for a minute but they get old fast, and the worst part is that a lot of times they sound forced. I miss the guy that made Up In Flames, that record is such a beautiful mindfuck. Makes me sad that this "Handsome Dick" ass hole sued him and everything changed forever. Fuck that guy. I'm sure nobody cares what I think but it's sad to see a musician evolve in the wrong direction when you know what could have been...
