Music. And in the long term where to find it.
I am in dire need of new music.
I fail to get excited about pretty much everything that was released in 2010 - Beach House, Surfer Blood, JJ, Wild Beasts, the new Hot Chip haven't bore me. The exceptions are Have One On Me and, to a lesser extent, Heartland. Recently I'm just finding myself going through my old stuff. Part of the problem is that lazily I used to get all my music from friends who would somehow just find it and then pass it on to me. However last year I moved to America, and although I have an awesome set of friends here they, alas, are just not into music like folks back home. So now all I have is Pitchfork's "Best new music" - which is beginning to wear pretty thin. I'm aware that a lot of things that I really really love have escaped Pitchfork's radar so I'm worried there might be a lot of stuff - particularly British stuff - that I'm missing out on.
So recommend me something that will be blow me away. Preferably something that's not straight off pitchfork. At the moment I'm looking for something with good lyrics. (As a guide some of my favourite people are Arab Strap, Joanna Newsom, The Microphones, David Thomas Broughton, Animal Collective, Herman Dune). Also suggestions on where to look for great new stuff that I might be missing out on (apart from just pestering you guys) would be great too.
