I really like Joanna Newsom, and have done for many years. When I first read the ubiquity of decent reviews for 'Have One On Me' I was pretty damned excited, but I have listened and listened (and listened) and I can't help but think there is nary a tune in ear-shot and it's empty and flat. If it's that they gradually reveal themselves after 11 minutes, I'm not convinced it's the kind of music that successfully works as such.

However, "comedic" answers like "with your ears" aside, should I be listening to this album differently? Disc 1 I enjoy, but 2 and 3....I need help to hear what everyone else does.
