I'll try and be a bit more specific. Any books really that document the history of music criticism and, if possible, looking at it in terms of an academic view- changing writing styles and so on, rather than anecdotal tales of "yeah I did a load of LSD backstage at the Apollo with The Stones. Was fucking great". A look at the writing itself more than the people behind it I guess...if any such books exist, any help would be much appreciated
