okay, so I'm used to gig venues not allowing you to bring water in to them, even though it's annoying- Scala give you a full body search, and Upstairs at the Garage told us that we couldn't bring bottles in because they are a safety hazard, and then end up selling bottled water inside anyway.

But last night at the Borderline (where Get Well Soon and Musee Mecanique played- great gig!), the security chap rummaged through everyone's bags thoroughly, and found something at the bottom of the girl's bag up ahead, brandished it and said 'Sorry, you're not allowed to bring pens in'!!! So she had to leave her pen (an ordinary bogstandard cheapo biro type pen as far as I could tell) at the ticket office to collect afterwards.

A pen????!!
