Bandcamp... Is it the future, or am I way behind the times?
I've just been mucking around with Bandcamp.
So far I've uploaded an EP and have to say I'm pretty impressed with the functionality and how stripped down the site is. I might even spend the next few days uploading the WAV's for an album (takes forever).
It makes a very refreshing change from MySpace though, ok there isn't really any social aspect like there is with MySpace (and it's offspring), but let's face it, how much spam can take, I've pretty much given up on MySpace, I used to get excited when we had mail as it used to mean someone had gone to the trouble of writing to US, but now pretty much the only mail we get is spam.... blah, blah, blah!
Anyway, what I wanted to say was I love the fact that Bandcamp just seems to be entirely about the music, whether it be streaming or downloading pretty much any format you like, including FLAC, and all for free (if the band are so inclined). No adverts, no fuss, no crap.
As I said, I'm liking it. But what does everyone else think... Is this the future?
Or am I the very last person on the planet to stumble across it, and everyone else has already discovered a newer cooler thing (this is very likely)?
