Gill Scott Heron
I’ve been listening to a lot of this guy over the last few days. I had heard of him, but had never heard him. Must say, I’m rather impressed. I only have the "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" album (1970). To those that don't know much about him, I would say he is kind of soul/funk/spoken word. Rap before most rap new what it was.
It is an extremely political album. Tracks like "Whitey On The Moon", “Home Is Where The Hatred Is” & of course “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” emphasising the push for equality as the struggle for civil rights gave way to the demand for Black Power.
Brilliant album, just brilliant.
Anyone else heard this/into this?
