Amazing 70's psychedelica from Japan
A friend of mine recently introduced me to this blog: http://japaneserockforfuckssake.blogspot.com/ and I've been working my way through the Julian Cope list. I've only listened to a couple of things, one of them Flower Travellin' Band's Satori, the brilliance of which is already fairly widely recognised, but this afternoon I downloaded J.A. Seazer's Kokky? Junreika and it's incredible. A mix of almost Morricone style film score stuff, Japanese folk and chanting, and Sabbath influenced hard rock and 60's psychedelica. Parts of it almost sound like Grails, and it stands up pretty well to modern weird psyche stuff. Artwork's rather good too: http://japaneserockforfuckssake.blogspot.com/2009/10/ja-seazer-kokkyou-junreika-1973-160kbps.html
