I'm currently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Music here is completely illegal. You're allowed to listen to music in private, but all public displays of music are prohibited. I went for dinner with a couple of Saudis tonight and asked why music was banned. They said that it's considered a distraction from the important business of praying. And dancing, apparently, is like totally satanic.

So next time you complain that no good bands ever play in your town, remember it could be worse...
