Audiences, Crowds and the Wankers inbetwixt
I don't rant. I'm not a ranty man. Most of my posts consist of 3 words... but fuck it.
It seems to be that I can't go to a gig and enjoy it anymore. This is no reflection on the bands I see, most of whom have blown me away. I'm suprised to go to a gig, even in a shitty little cave and have some 'lads' ruin it. Live music isn't pissing in a £3 plastic pint and chucking it. It isn't smacking the shit out of people you don't know. And, prove me wrong, in most cases it isn't singing along to every word.
I go and see live music, to see how a band apply themselves to the challenge of getting their music, ideology and personality across to the audience. It seems very few others do. For example, this evening an 18 year indie type twat grabbed my shoe off my foot and began to walk away. I never get angry or violent, but I had to shout this kid down for being a prick. A self indulgent skidmark. A fuck that only cares for his humour.
So to conclude, people (young males, with a taste for european lager) ruin live music events. This has no doubt been said before. But it's ridiculous. Who pays 10-40 quid to be seen and heard, rather than to watch and listen? Is there anyway to enjoy or dance to live music other than standing at the side. Or can we just set an example that this is not the type of behaviour we need or want at these events. It ruins the effect and sets bad examples for younger music fans and if things go the way they are I wouldn't be suprised to see further sanctions on music events in the future.
Sorry for being such a cunt. It's late and I'm drunk.
