I'm an guitarist, but i want to turn my hand to producing/recording full tracks on my lappy. I have very limited knowledge on how to do this

I've worked out that i will probably need:
- A controller keyboard
- Sequencer software
- VST plug ins

Anyone have any recommendations for a decent beginner set up for under £250?

How easy is it to create a backline using this equipment, considering i am not a keyboardist/bassist/drummer?

Any advice appreciated.
