Music Videos: the best of 2009
While we've had umpteen best of 2009 albums, tracks, cover art etc threads in this wind-down season, I thought it was high time for us to put forward some of our favourite promo videos of 2009 - the top 3 best examples of sound and vision you've come across this year, if you please! If you've found fan-made vids that do a better job than the originals, feel free to include them.
Here's my top 3:
1: Moderat - Rusty Nails

Mesmerising, sensuous, beautifully simple, as perfect a fit to the sparse and heartbreaking song as you could imagine.
2: Phoenix - Lisztomania

Unofficial and fan-made, but so good even the band themselves said it was far better than the one they actually paid to make. Nostalgic magic.
3: Wild Beasts - Hooting and Howling

Underwater videos have been done before, but never really this simply and effectively. I love watching the snare fills. Silly and joyous, floaty light.
Honorable mentions:
Can't say the music does anything for me, but Fever Ray's If I Had A Heart video is really absorbing and disquieting. Sadly though, EMI have seen fit to block it from YouTube and I can't be arsed to find it elsewhere.
