Are there any bands, good bands, who have had success and are really good etc that have got there by just simply sending a shit hot demo to a record company? For instance The Strokes, didn't they just send their demo to Rough Trade and that was what elevated them to hype, recognition, etc? I've always wondered about this because that sounds really easy, but you always hear about bands having trouble getting signed n that. If this is the case, it must be because they're shit and nothing else..

What you reckon the chances are of simply sending a demo to a record company and a band getting signed, etc?
