people would never about animal collective's "killer flow" or grizzly bear's "sick beats". Whether these bands have either of the aforementioned qualities is negligible, the point still stands - why, in many places, do people think talking about hip hop requires a different lexicon to talking about "other" music?

Seems to be pretty other-ing to be frank. I'm sure most people that do it do it because that's "just how it's done", but it seems to indicate a distance from the music if you can't speak about it in the same terms as you would other genres.
Or is it that these terms are the only terms you can discuss hip hop in? Seems odd to me. I'd consider morrissey to have a "killer flow" as I understand it - Good lyrics delivered in an interesting way, interested in the rythmic spacing of words and enjambment and all that

so what do you think?
