Eat Your Own Ears is renowned for recognising new and emerging talent before they become household names, founding the careers of artists such as Danger Mouse (aka Gnarls Barkley), Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and Mercury Award winning artists Franz Ferdinand. EYOE have a full grasp on the music industry, covering musical enterprises from across the globe. They have hosted at The Warehouse Party at every year and this year they bring an artist that has risen from the new London folk scene, along with Lilly Allen and Jamie T to be at the forefront of British singer songwriter talent, we welcome Jack Penate to our home. Jack Penate’s second album is considered by many to be his music coming of age – "The idea behind making it was for me to do something that was driven by drums and bass with rhythms from music outside of my home. It was a complete adventure remembering and finding all the music that came to inspire the record." And a recent Guardian review shows how Penate will fit perfectly into this years' Warehouse Project. "Penate has suddenly found a sense of rhythm; recent single Today's Tonight merges Afrobeat and house music" – With a major run of musical debuts at this years Warehouse Project, Eat Your Own Ears & Jack Penate will surely live up to all expectations.

"I'm ripping the posters off the wall, I'm moving the boxes into the hall," offer the opening lines of Pull My Heart Away. "Everything is new now, change has been released ... dance away defeat," he sings on the title track of his critically acclaimed second album. And indeed his new album 'Everything Is New' could not have a more apt title. His eclectic mix of styles incorporates elements of his varied influences, which range from rockabilly and folk to jazz and trip-hop. He lists Prince, Jeff Buckley, JJ Cale, Harry Nillson and Herbie Hancock among his influences. Yet he delivers a genuine London voice and still manages to sound original. His live performances are characterised by his much commented, "individualist" style of dancing where he plays guitar and dances simultaneously with a vigorous fluidity – he finds it hard to keep still. And surely live is all about these factors, an artist who is embroiled in their music which shines through when they perform.

Having already written one of the most famous singles of the 21st Century ('Toxic' by Britney Spears in case you're wondering), it seemed that the writers and producers who make up Miike Snow were already doing quite nicely. Miike Snow are a trio from Sweden – Pontus, Kristian and Andrew. Andrew produced Daniel Merriweathers new album alongside Mark Ronson, and Pontus and Christian produced records for everyone from Vampire Weekend to Madonna

Now they've decided to take centre stage themselves with an electro-pop venture named after a Japanese film director. They met in 2000 when writing another artist's album; they kept in touch until finally forming Miike Snow in 2007 in Stockholm. It was here that they recorded their debut album, 'Miike Snow', which was released on Downtown Records, the label who are also championing projects like Major Lazer and Amanda Blank.

Andrew Wyatt reckons they sound like "fragmented pop music", their bouncy hooks and melodys the type that get stuck in your head for hours. You can tell you’re dealing with the experts... The single from this album, 'Animal', is everywhere. The guys are all over Radio 1 and with their fanbase growing massively all the time, these guys are about to blow. A great addition onto the 2009 series.

Also added to Oct 23rd is Northampton based former Mercury Prize nominee James Chapman aka MAPS. First coming to real attention in 2007 with his highly acclaimed album ‘We Can Create’, James has been busy in the studio of late as he prepares for a brand new album due for around September time. This will be his only appearance in Manchester in 2009.

Another Red-Hot addition. Current London based psychadelic Art-Pop faves Django Django finish off the live bill on the EYOE show which now looks like an absolute beast.

"What do you get if you cross a duck with a fox? Five-year-old Suzy’s answer is just one example of how awesomeness can arise from innocent experimentation. Paul Epworth / Phones

Paul Epworth - award winning British music producer, musician and songwriter. His production credits include Bloc Party, Primal Scream, The Rapture, Friendly Fires, Jack Peñate, Florence and the Machine, Kate Nash and Maxïmo Park. He is also well known for his remix work under the name Phones. He began to gain recognition with this moniker based on his work on Bloc Party's track "Banquet". He has since provided remix work for New Order, U2, P-Diddy, Goldfrapp, Simian Mobile Disco, The Streets, Tom Vek, Death from Above 1979, and Annie. Currently one of the most important and in demand producers in the world, a really great piece of the Oct 23rd musical Jigsaw.

Now Wave DJs

Manchester’s Now Wave are currently responsible for some of the best live gigs in the city, at their spiritual home of the Deaf Institute where they consistently put on the coolest freshest bands of the moment. Check their myspace for whats forthcoming over the next few months from them. Wesley & Jon (also responsible for up the racket!) will be joining us at The Warehouse Project for some DJ action on three dates over the series, this being one of them.
