I'm attempting to set up a no-frills, corner-in-the-attic recording setup with a PC for recording with an old pile of inherited instruments - piano, odd horns, harmonium and dusty acoustic guitars. I want it have a warm lo-fi sound.
Got Reaper onboard the PC but just need a cheapo USB/firewire interface and a mic to get started. With about £200 to spend, what would you buy?
(Mate has recommended a 2nd hand Mbox and a Shure 58, whaddya think?)
