Currently, the tour page on the official Nine Inch Nails website lists the tour as "Nine Inch Nails: Wave Goodbye." In addition, there is an emblem at the bottom of the page with the dates "1989-2009". Reznor has said outright in an interview on the official website that he is not done making music as Nine Inch Nails, but that he is done touring for the foreseeable future.

On June 14, during Nine Inch Nails's set at Bonnaroo, Trent Reznor told the crowd that "It just dawned on me that this is our last show ever in the United States". He then said "Don't be sad. I'll keep going [in music]"
