Peculiar things you may notice about DiS album reviews over coming weeks
Hello, hello.
Erm, yeah, so as has been much observed, DiS has had a slightly tumultuous last year, and as you've probably noticed, quite a lot of major-ish recent-ish albums haven't been reviewed. This is mostly because as has been said ad nauseum, the reviews pretty much only come from volunteers where once the majority were done by full-time staff, and um, nobody really got around to recruiting more volunteer writers. UNTIL NOW.
So there'll be quite a lot of fresh blood over the next few weeks, and we asked everybody wanting to write for the site to do a review of something we missed as a test piece, and the best of those reviews are going to go up up up, with the consequence being that as well as new releases, there'll be quite a few reviews of things that should really have been covered an age ago going up over the next few weeks.
Which will look a bit off, but it's sort of plugging gaps/sort of showcasing some good new writers and will hopefully herald something close to the final phase of things getting towards some sense of stability. Just thought I'd post it here rather than putting a disclaimer onto otherwise perfectly good reviews.
PRs etc - we're revamping the way albums are assigned, the basic plan is that rather than everything being sent to an office and then forwarded, we'll organise who's doing what by email and then have YOU, the PR, send a download or copy of the record in question to the reviewer in question. This may change again once DiS has a new office. Does that make sense? Hmm. Anyway, if I'm not on your emails it's lukowski@drownedinsound.com and I'm sort of albums editing, but only for two days a week, so sorry if I'm a bit lame at getting back to you but I'm in no way doing this fulltime.
Ithankyou.
