Tired Irie
Signed to Try Harder records the original homes of Foals and Blood Red Shoes, Tired Irie, a Leicester-based four piece, formed in late 2004. ‘Like. Gentle. Men.’ was their debut single back in November 2005.
A band with a bleak and unnerving intensity playing songs made up of twinkling blankets of crystalline guitars, effortlessly accurate vocal interplay and triumphant melodies of uplifting and intangible quality.
Somehow they’re a party band too.
"Gleaming stratospheric pop from the label that brought you Foals and Blood Red Shoes. Take Heed"
NME
"This is the first band at least recently, if not ever, to successfully combine serious electro funk disco with an eerily contagious indie rock sensibility. Mindblowing material from the Leicester quartet."
MANCHESTERMUSIC.CO.UK
'Post-punk rhythms layered with powerful harmonies etched with guitars riffs and bass lines that pump through your heart like a big wheel generator. There’s a profound statement in there somewhere, I’m sure of it. Fuck listening to it, I was off dancing!

Wintermute
"...punchy and pop-infected, akin to The Futureheads poising notes at sharper angles. Ditch the doubts at the door: expect to be impressed."
Rock Sound
"...the whole thing's held together by some of the jerkiest guitar work this side of a Jade Tree compilation."

"A curious combo of At The Drive-In and Interpol, splashed with a bit of Foals-ian mathletics, tight and adventurous, Wintermute are cool."

Itch
Occupying ground somewhere between The Cure and yourcodenameis:milo, and fronted by a man who inexplicably wears an army helmet onstage, Itch deliver an enthralling and exciting performance. Screeched vocals over largely clean guitars, energetically showcased by a group of obviously talented musicians, is the name of the game. Signed to Big Scary Monsters, new album is out this year.
Yonderboy
Appealing, capricious and quintessentially British indie material executed with great flair, brilliantly down-to-earth Northern quips and some elastic instrumental noodling.
