how do people feel about electronic artists (along the lines of animal collective, gang gang dance, yacht etc..) making there own music but not fully producing (the sound production) it?

when it comes to making electronic music i find making the music is only 50% of it and the other 50% is the production/ mastering etc but does that really matter to the listener? does it take away credit from the creative process?

Weird question, but just coming across a couple of dilemmas with making my music and wondering weather to stick it out another year so that my production is tip top, or to find help with the production and just get the music finalized a lot quicker.

any answers of advice would be super.
