Dear anyone who knows a little about home recording (Cubase, Cakewalk or something else?)
What software package would be best for my needs because I want to learn how to use something well? I'm not quite sure what you would need to know to determine this.
- It's probably all pretty simple stuff. Recording no more than two inputs at once (out of vocals, guitar, electronic drums, laptop noises, bass). Maybe adding some basic guitar effects but not bothered about complicated cutting and splicing and making everything "perfect" and shiny. But want scope to be able to make it sound "professional" (as in clarity and nice effects) if ever need to or have the inclination. Really just want an interface that is intuitive and not too fiddly, but has capacity to produce something great-sounding if that is ever needed.
Options available (in terms of owned software) are Cubase or Cakewalk. I know these are powerful and probably unnecessarily so but are either relatively easy to use, at least to do the basics? If they're both a complete nightmare, what other packages would you recommend?
Thanks
