top ten britpop albums
Stuck for something else to talk about, me and two of my band were in a pub earlier and we decided to try and think of what the top 10 britpop albums were.
We loosely defined britpop as anything british, guitary, melodic and verse chorus versey released between Parklife in april 1994 and Ok Computer in june 1997 (not including ok computer) that wasn't clearly something else, like grunge, metal etc. Urban Hymns was the only main one released after this we could think of, and none of us like The Verve so our time span stands!
We came up with a vague order of :
1 - The Holy Bible by The Manic Street Preachers
2 - The Bends by Radiohead
3 - Different Class by Pulp
4 - Defintely Maybe by Oasis
5 - The Sun Is Often Out by The Longpigs
6 - Parklife by Blur
7 - I Should Coco by Supergrass
8 - 1977 by Ash
9 - Attack Of The Grey Lantern by Mansun
10 - At The Club by Kenickie
Though there was some debate over whether MSP or Radiohead actually counted as britpop. And I wanted to put in How To Make Friends And Influence People by Terrorvision but they were having none of it. Sam the bass player tried to suggest Shed Seven, so I punched him, asked him to apologise, and then leave. He didn't. But he accepted my position, and it didn't make the list either.
Are there any obvious ones we have totally forgotten about? Any underrated ones we should have considered? Or any lost gems we may not have heard?
PS. We don't like Suede either.
PPS. Sorry if this is a rubbish thread, I'm bored.
