Idlewild at the folk fest...
I went to the Cambridge Folk Festival the other day and I have to say, it was the strangest musical event I've been to - but in a good way.
The only act I had any good knowledge of were Idlewild and I made sure of my place on the rail by standing through an hour long set by a group called Blazin Fiddles, which wasn't as painful as you might expect.
Idlewild did an acoustic set which was so good I felt moved to furiously punch the air. Standing among bearded folk fans though, it just seemed weird to do so.
They played (not in order): When I Argue, American English, Bronze Medal, Live in a Hiding Place, a new one written by the scottish poet lauriette, love steals us..., held the world, el capitain, another one of the new album I can't remember and happy to be here.
Anyone else see this glory unfold?
