Bands with the Worst Artwork
I vote for:
The Smiths: Some ugly famous person with the contrast turned up to max and the whole picture turned into a hideous shade of orange or something, and on top of that, the writing is always in the shittest, most ugliest font ever.
The Mars Volta: Almost manages to be as pretentious and gash as the music held within, the fat gold head on the plate is the ugliest and worst of the lot. Although the Frances the Mute one made me laugh, and the quote from popjustice about it made me laugh even more: "On the sleeve you can see some men driving with red bags on their heads - because in a way we're all driving with red bags on our heads, aren't we? Don't you think? WHOAH! OUR PERCEPTION OF 21ST CENTURY LIFE HAS BEEN TOTALLY ALTERED BY THIS MINDBLOWINGLY POIGNANT ARTWORK!! "
I think good artwork on album is really important, I know I've bought a few CDs before, just because they had great artwork.
