Saw the Long Blondes last night and was very disappointed. I got some MP3s by this band about 9months ago and I was pretty impressed. I’ve stayed impress and even after the gig I am impressed with them on CD at least.

I’ve seen people raving about their live performance on DiS. Fair enough. But I think one of a few things have happened here.

1. These ‘ravers’ were pissed when they saw them live and wasn’t really paying attention.
2. I caught them on a bad night.
3. I am waaaaaaaay to cynical

I thought the performance had some really good points, but sadly some really bad points.

Good Points:
The singer is amazing, an instantly recognizable sweet sweet voice. She has incredible stage presence and oodles of sex appeal. She was really putting her heart into the performance. Male guitarist was good, not brilliant but up to the job. Drummer was ok too.

Bad Points.
What the fuck is that female guitarist doing? (not the bassist) She seemed more concerned with how she looked that how to play the guitar. Infact she struggled to play her guitar all set. No she wasn’t drunk as I was talking to her before she went on stage. She looked like she had only been playing guitar for about a month. Oh and does she even know how to use a microphone? Either practice guitar/mic and get better… or just give up… you sucked big-time. The bassist looked uncomfortable and bored out of her skull. The basslines were very simple and un-stressful, which for her I suppose was a blessing really. I doubt she could have handled anything too complex.

I’ve heard this band called ‘the most talked about band in the uk’. Well I wish them every success, but please please practice practice practice… you really need it.

Great front woman though. Without her they would be nothing.
