Your Fav Hip Hop Artists.
This is not my favorite genre only accounting for approx 5% of my CD collection. It still holds some truly amazing talent.
1. Saul Williams
This guy needs to be elevated to ‘godlike genius’. A true dictator with as much charisma as anyone I’ve ever seen/heard. This guy grips me so hard I can feel myself grinding my teeth while I’m listening. Poetry, pure poetry.
2. Notorious BIG
Poor BIGGY, he had the world at his feet, gunned down in cold blood. If this guy was alive today I would probably be listening to more hiphop than I do. The stories he tells are all true and you know it. He makes me laugh and cry, I get a lump in my throat and sometimes get angry.
He was the king of free-styling rap, he didn’t even know the words to his 1st album when he recorded it. He just knew the stories and ‘told it like it was’. I cried when I heard he was dead. (1st two albums only)
3. Icecube
This is one Bad-Ass dude. Back in the days of NWA this guy was untouchable. Anyone who has heard the opening few verses to Gangsta Gansta will probably agree. Lost it a little recently, but this guy was anger personified.
4. Ice-T
Ice-T will always hold a special place in my heart. He was the first rap artist I liked. If you try to take this guy serious you are really missing the point. Humour, and laughs… total comedy central. But it’s so easy to not realize. The album ‘Original Gangster’ is a true classic and the perfect album.
Sorry for not mentioning Diz Ras. I just can’t get away with him.
