MTV
I wish they'd throw in the towel. Talk about losing the plot. Now, I can't speak for yer British version, of course, but American MTV only pretends to be interested in pop music long enough to fuck up events like Live8. Clearly the stage to be at was in London, but instead we were treated with mostly Philiadelphia acts. Bon Jovi may not the worst band in the world, but close enough. How many times can those moron VJs exclaim "geez whiz it's great to be here" before I felt like hammering nails through my hands? I'm not even a Pink Floyd fan but I'm pretty sure the MTV director who decided to cut away from their performance to show the VJs say, "it's Pink Floyd, and they're playing right now!" should be given a last cigarette and a blindfold.
MTV's regularly scheduled programming has completely forgotten music. I remember when they apologized by offering MTV2. Now MTV2 plays Beavis and Butthead reruns too. How does a company that's made billions of dollars from music forget about the music? I never thought I'd miss JJ Jackson, Martha Stewart, and those other goof-ball VJs from the early days.
On a positive note, US cable tv has Fuse too, now. So that if I ever develop a taste for SkATer bOi bands I'll have that to look forward to. :-)
